Job Description
OceanaGold has an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to join the team. You will provide legal advice on contracts, agreements, property transactions, resource consents, and other commercial and contractual relationships the company enters into. You will provide general legal advice where required to manage legal risks and safeguard the Company's legal interests.
We can offer a variety of work in a complex and challenging environment. We're after a self-starting motivated individual who can hit the ground running within this busy setting.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Liaise with OceanaGold managers and senior personnel in order to provide the timely procurement of all necessary commercial contracts (including drafting and negotiating as required) and other legal arrangements
- Provide advice on and legal support for property related matters including land access, land acquisitions and disposals and land holdings
- Provide advice on and legal support for aspects of resource management, consents and regulatory authorities required by the business
- Assist OceanaGold managers and senior personnel to monitor and enforce the performance of all commercial contracts and property arrangements
- Potential to provide support with legal aspects of human resources, health and safety, and workforce/human rights governance.
Qualifications
- Law degree and a minimum of five years PQE
- A thorough understanding of commercial, contractual and property documentation and practice
- Experience in resource management and environmental law
- Risk assessment skills and an ability to provide strategic, concise, solutions-focused legal advice
- Advanced interpersonal, negotiation, communication and analytical skills
